About Solareclipse
Solareclipse is the personal realm of Charles Capps. That'd be me. :)
I'm a Perl developer, graphics tinkerer, and web hacker, working for
Infopop Corporation in Seattle, WA,
though I'm originally from the San Jose area.
Solareclipse is somewhat redundant - there really isn't that much here at all
that would be of interest to you. All the juicy bits are accessable via the
menu to your left. If, for some odd reason, your web browser isn't rendering
this page in a sane manner, you should seriously consider coming back after
upgrading to something decent, like Mozilla.
If you like the way the site has been done, I'm available for contract work - drop
a mail to . If you don't see an email address there, you
really should upgrade your browser. :)
Flare Sci-Fi Forums - http://flare.solareclipse.net/
The lead attraction here at Solareclipse, and quite possibly the only thing
remaining from the early days with the
Behaviour Group. These
UBB.classic™-powered forums have been around
since March of 1999, with the community dating back to 1995. That's really
quite old when you think of it in 'net terms. How many people have you
known online for seven years?
Flare is also used as a testbed for UBB.classic™ betas -
home of the latest and greatest. :)
Phoenix Chat - http://phoenix.pleh.net/
It has nothing to do with Phoenix, AZ. :) Phoenix is home to chatters that used
to hang out at Startrekker
and SDU
chats. Both of these chats died ages ago, but the community still tries to keep
in touch using Phoenix, from time to time. Drop on by, there might be someone there!
Phoenix was run by Mike Hall (Marwood) for quite a few years - he recently
handed over ownership and responsibility to me and the remaining guards.
Please do not taunt the bots. :)
Utopia Planitia 3 - http://www.utopia-planitia.com/
Once upon a time, there was Utopia Planitia,
a haven for Trek geeks everywhere. At the time, it was the ultimate
starship database on the web. It was endlessly copied, endlessly ripped. Eventually,
it spawned a child - Utopia Planitia 2, at The STZone,
but the child soon suffered from the same problem as its parent - too many people
visiting and not enough money to pay for the bandwidth it sucked up.
UP1 and UP2 died in 1998. UP3 is their logical successor - this time, we have
plenty of bandwidth to go around. Stay tuned for information about a launch date.
It's only been a couple years now. ;)
